Incidence of cancer in Fabry patients

There is growing evidence that alterations in glycosphingolipids which occur in patients with Fabry disease may have an oncogenic role. However, only a handful of case reports have been published describing cancer in individuals with Fabry disease and there has been no systematic study of the relative incidence of cancer in the context of Fabry disease compared to the general population.
